About OBS Houtwijk

The Hague Schools Foundation (DHS) and OBS Houtwijk.

Our school is part of De Haagse Scholen, a foundation for public primary and special education in The Hague with a total of 52 schools in our beautiful court city.

OBS Houtwijk is a public elementary school committed to providing quality education to students in a safe and challenging learning environment. Professionalism, child-centeredness, customization, good learning results and close cooperation with parents are its focal points.
Public schools are attended by children and parents from diverse backgrounds. The education team sees it as its job to ensure a good education for all children. At a public school, in principle, everyone is welcome. Treating each other respectfully is the basis of our daily practice and education. We give everyone equal opportunities.

Mission DHS: “We prepare our students for the world of tomorrow”

At our school, we create an environment in which conditions are created for talent development. With us, children are given the opportunity to develop to their maximum potential. Our teachers are indispensable in this process: they encourage children so that their talents and abilities emerge.

We also believe it is important for children to learn to learn from each other. Of each other’s background, views and ideas. Parents form a team with our school in the development of the child. We engage with them about their contribution to education and parenting responsibilities, among other things.

Mission

“OBS Houtwijk is the place to learn life!”

With us, children can develop into (young) adults capable of making their own choices and taking responsibility. We do this from a safe, respectful, rich (learning) environment.
